چکیده

In this report, we described the IRIS-IPS, an interactive people search system for HCIR 2012 data challenge. IRISIPS can recommend candidates from three different aspects, i.e. the content based relevance, the candidates’ authority rank and the social similarity. The social similarity is measured by the closeness between a candidate and the support entity list. The default the support entity list is a set of entities that users input in the input interface, but the list can be in further modified by adding candidates from the ranking list or by removing existing people from the list. IRIS-IPS also provides the function of combining evidences from different aspects. The emphasis on different aspects might be different in diversity tasks. As a result, we built an interactive interface, in which users can tune parameters and get any combination of the given three aspects.

Session-based search with Querium

We illustrate the use of Querium, a novel search system designed to support people’s collaborative and multisession search tasks, in the context of the HCIR 2011 Search Challenge. This report demonstrates how a Querium’s interface and search engine can be used to search for documents in an open-ended, exploratory task. We illustrate the use of relevance feedback, faceted search, query fusion, a...

Interactive Retrieval using IRIS: TREC-6 Experiments

For the TREC-5, Category B adhoc task, we examined the effectiveness of two relevance feedback models: an adaptive linear model and a probabilistic model (Sumner & Shaw, 1997). The models were shown to be effective, especially when the relevance assessments of the searchers matched those of the official TREC judges. During feedback, the query was expanded by a large number of terms from the ret...
